Abstract:
The synthesis of several 2,5-anhidro-D-mannose derivatives is described. One of them,
3,4,6,-tri—O-benzoyl-2,5-anhydro-D-mannose dibenzylmercaptal (IV), as a crystalline compound, is used to prepared
tribenzyl and triacetyl derivatives, By demercaptalization of IV and subsequent reaction with urea and ethyl acetoacetate, a
C-nucleoside analogous, 4(2,3,5-tri-O-benzoyl-a-D-arabinofuranosyl)-5-etoxicarbonyl—
-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-methyl-2-oxopyrimidine, is formed.
