I was recently appointed as Manager Data Governance & Business Solutions at the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Before that, I was Chief Research Informatics Officer at the Innovation Unit at the Hospital Clínico San Carlos.
I hold a Ph.D. (2011) in Design, Analysis and Applications of Intelligent Systems from the Universidad de Granada - Spain and a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the same University (2001).
My dissertation was devoted to integrating HTN Temporal Planning (P&S) techniques in different domains: E-learning, Business Process Management (BPM) and Clinical Decision Support (CDS). I am passionate about applying AI to medical informatics, so I was a visiting post-doc in the University of Haifa (Israel) [Nov 2011 - Oct 2013], under supervision of Assoc. Prof. Mor Peleg, to work in the European FP7 project MobiGuide.
Then I held a post-doc lecturer position in the Dept. of Computer Science at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, where I worked at the Planning and Learning group (PLG) leaded by Prof. Daniel Borrajo.
My research interests include Artificial Intelligence, particularly Medical Informatics; Clinical Decision Support Systems; Computer-interpretable Guidelines; Automated Planning; Clinical Data Standards; Knowledge Representation; Process-aware Information Systems; Argumentation; Machine Learning
