The trains
Spain has a wide railway network, covering almost all the country. There are some types of trains, but the most used are talgo (fast train), and AVE (high speed train which can go over 300 Km/h).At present, Granada is linked with the main cities by means of a standard line, so just fast trains arrive there. The talgo takes about 5 and a half hours from Madrid. Seville is 4 hours far.
But there is a big (more than 2.700 Km) high speed network (AVE) over Spain which is growing very fast too. This way, there are several sections under building, and one of them is the joining of Granada to Antequera, as can be seen in the figure.
It is expected that this railway will work in a few years. Currently, AVE train takes 2 hours in 500 Kms in average, so it will take around 3 hours to get from Madrid to Granada.
