mucinous breast carcinoma | definition: invasive adenocarcinoma which grows in the ducts of the breast and contains cells producing significant amounts of mucin, a secretion that is the chief constituent of mucus. Because of mucin the tumor is glistening, sticky and gelatinoid in consistency. The tumor is usually slow growing, is not likely to spread beyond the breast, and has a highly favorable prognosis.
