Train

The train station in Granada is right in the centre of the city, Avenida de los Andaluces. To book a ticket and check the time tables, visit RENFE web page.

Car

Does no t matter the city you come from (Madrid->Jaén, coming from the north; Málaga/Sevilla ->Loja, form the West; Valencia/Almería -> Guadix, from the East), it is recommended to take the motorway that circulates the city (towards: Motril – La Alhambra – Sierra Nevada), and then take one of the exits to the city centre, depending on your lodgings (Méndez Núñez or Recogidas are the main exits to take you directly to the city centre). Traffic in the city is intense and slow, so it is highly recommended to leave the car in a parking in the centre.

 Arrival on Bus

Coach services to communicate different Spanish cities with Granada are the cheapest and fastest means of transport (especially with Madrid). The coach station is far away form the city centre (about 4 kilometres). From there you can take a taxi (rate: approximately 10 €) or a bus (numbers 3 and 33), there stop is just in front of the bus station (intervals of 15 minutes)

Transportation to Facultad de Filosofía y Letras from Granada city Centre

(Colloquium site)

On foot

The Faculty of Humanities (Facultad de Filosofía y Letras) is in Cartuja Campus, in a hill northwest of the city near Albaicín hill and close to Cartuja Monastery.

It takes fifteen minutes walk from the city centre to the Faculty. We advise that the final part of the walk has s deep step, though the walk is nice in particular in you going down to the centre. You will find more information in the documents you will receive in the reception.

To check the city’s map we recommend to visit the following direction: http://maps.google.es/

Bus

Recommended means of transport. You can get a bus pass in the bus (fare: 3 €) and charge it with a number of passes (10 passes for 8 €); in the last use you can return the card and you will get back the tree euros card deposit. Ask the driver for the Facultad de Fª y Letras stop.

Another option is to get a touristic bonus: if you are planning to visit some of the monuments (the Alhambra, Cathedral, Royal Chapel, Cartuja and San Jerónimo Monastery, Arqueological Museum, Science Park …). If you pay a total of 32,50 € you get access to all those places as well as 8 bus tickets. The bonus lasts for 5 days and you can book in advance the visits or get it once you get to Granada (check the following web page)
