The University of Granada is pleased to announce that our 15th International Staff Training Week (STW) will be held from 1 to 5 July 2019. Over 140 administrative officers and managers from our partner universities will take part in the STW through the Erasmus+ Programme, with participants from 30 non-EU countries, including: Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Bolivia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cambodia, Egypt, El Salvador, Georgia, Guatemala, India, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, Myanmar, Palestine, the Philippines, Russia, Senegal, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Togo, Tunisia and Ukraine.
The main objective of the event is to provide a platform for the exchange of good practices and know-how between the UGR and our partner universities. Participants will have the opportunity to share diverse experiences, ideas, and management styles, acquiring practical and transferable skills that will boost their professional development in the higher education sector.
The 15th International Staff Training Week will be officially inaugurated by Dorothy Kelly, the Vice-Rector for Internationalization, at 10.00 a.m on Monday 1 July at the “Triunfo” Administrative Complex. Over the course of the week, a broad range of talks and workshops will cover topics such as the UGR Internationalization Strategy, the management of incoming and outgoing student and staff mobility, Erasmus+ international cooperation projects, academic cooperation, development cooperation, and the internationalization of postgraduate studies.
Participants will also have the opportunity to go on guided tours of the UGR’s most emblematic buildings and heritage sites, such as the Hospital Real — the 16th-century building which is now the seat of the Rectorate of the University of Granada, as well as the fascinating “Parque de las Ciencias” Science Museum. An engaging workshop titled ‘Spanish Survival Kit’ will also equip the participants with basic Spanish language resources so that they can make the most of their stay in Granada. Moreover, strategic meetings will take place between representatives from the UGR and our international partners with a view to fostering closer ties and collaboration.
The International Staff Training Week will be brought to an end on Friday 5 July with a closing speech by José Martínez Aroza, Coordinator of the Erasmus+ International Programme at the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization, followed by a concert performed by a string quartet from the Orchestra of the University of Granada.
