Pasajeros en vuelo a Estados Unidos - Passengers flying to the United States

Desde el pasado mes de marzo, las compañías aéreas con vuelo a Estados Unidos, entre ellas Iberia, tienen que cumplir con los nuevos requisitos de información sobre los pasajeros que se dirijan a este destino, según el acuerdo alcanzado entre Estados Unidos y la Comisión Europea.

En virtud de dicho acuerdo, las autoridades aduaneras de Estados Unidos podrán acceder, si lo estiman necesario, a la información contenida en las reservas de estos vuelos o que hagan escala en algún aeropuerto de aquel país.  La Comisión Europea ha informado a las compañías aéreas de que ha recibido garantías de la Administración de Estados Unidos sobre el uso apropiado de dicha información.

Estos nuevos requerimientos, basados en la Ley norteamericana de Seguridad Aérea y de Transportes de noviembre de 2001, tienen como objetivo aumentar la seguridad del transporte aéreo.  Las compañías aéreas que vuelen a Estados Unidos, entre ellas Iberia, están obligadas a cumplir con ellos.

 
As of last March, an agreement between the United States and the European Commission obliges airlines providing service to the United States, among them Iberia, to comply with new requirements that demand information about the passengers flying there.

By the terms of this agreement, US customs officials can request information, the kind that is given when making flight reservations, about passengers travelling there or changing flights in airports there.  The European Commission has informed the airlines that it has received guarantees from the United States that no inappropriate use will be made of such information.

These new requirements, based on the November, 2001, US Air Security and Transport las, aim to increase safety in air transport, and the companies that fly to the United States, including Iberia, are obliged to comply.
