Presentation

Within the framework of the Research Project “Public regulation of security in cyberspace” awarded by the National Research Agency, an International Conference will be organized in Granada on 30 November-1 December 2023.

Cybersecurity is an international public good. The pervasiveness of many malicious cyber activities with international-legal significance makes it necessary to carry out an in-depth examination of this problem. International norms that need to be examined to tackle cybersecurity include the prohibition of the use of force, the non-intervention principle, or the sovereignty rule, as well as the rules on attribution. Likewise, malicious cyber activities also justify, from an international point of view, unilateral reactions by States affected, such as self-defence, countermeasures, and the state of necessity. But also, the cooperation developed within some international organizations, such as the United Nations, the Council of Europe and the European Union needs to be assessed as a better way to solve the problem of cyberattacks..

This Conference is also supported by the Department of Public International Law and International Relations and the Excellence Research Unit “Digital Society: Security and Protection of Rights” (SD2), both of University of Granada.
