Workshop characteristics

This event will bring together researchers to focus on all aspects of the development process that can contribute to make AmI systems safer and to provide methodologies that can increase the confidence in these developments.

This event will offer a variety of activities to attract prominent researchers and practitioners in the field. We aim to provide a suitable environment for researchers and practitioners to share their knowledge and experiences in the field.

Typical areas to consider will be: testing, validation, verification of correctness, tools for simulation, gathering of user requirements and human-centred design, to mention a few. This list will be expanded with the focus on attracting papers that highlight the process of increasing users satisfaction and trust in AmI systems.

General structure of the event

The core of the event will be the presentation of recent advances in research and applications followed by a debate aiming to encourage a critical reflection on the subject. It is our aim to develop our activities throughout an entire day. The event will be opened with a keynote speech, followed by sessions where papers will be presented to report on significant theoretical developments and applications. Presentations can also contain demos about tools and applications.

After the presentations of the selected papers a panel will focus on critical issues that should be addressed at both academic and professional level. The results of this panel can be used then by different groups to elaborate a summary document on achievements and prospective issues to be considered by the research community. Interaction will be encouraged throughout the event.

Invited Speaker

An internationally recognized researcher in the field will be invited to give a stimulating presentation. The aim of the invited talk will be to stimulate the debate which will be the focus of the panel and meetings during the later third of the event.
