This is my professional
page where you can find information about my teaching and my research
activities.
I made my bachelor in
Physics (Theoretical Physics speciality) at the Universidad Complutense de
Madrid and obtained my Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics at the Universidad de Granada
(UGR).
I have been teaching in the
Physics degree from 1990 (beginning as an assistant and ending as a full
professor), and I also teach in the Graduate Program of Physics (Master and
Doctorate).
My main research interests
are Medical Physics (mainly Neutron Capture Therapy of
cancer), experimental Nuclear Physics (neutron
cross section measurements) Quantum Computational Chemistry (few
and many electron systems) and some problems of Mathematical Physics (convergence
acceleration of series and Hilbert transforms).
You can see a list of
publications at my ORCID
records.
I am collaborating with Fred W. King, Professor of the University of Wisconsin-Eau
Claire in Computational Chemistry research, with the n_TOF
collaboration at CERN, with the Institute Laue-Langevin
(ILL) at Grenoble and with the groups of Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT)
of Helsinki and Pavia (Italy).
I am currently the
President of the International Society for Neutron Capture
Therapy (ISNCT) and the Director of the University Chair “Neutrons for Medicine” of
the UGR, founded by donations from non-profit organizations as the Spanish Fundación ACS, and the local associations Capitán Antonio, La Kuadrilla de Iznalloz and Sonriendo
se Puede Ganar.
We are very grateful to these societies for funding our research.
We are very grateful to the
Scientific
Foundation of the Asociación Española contra el Cáncer (AECC) who gave us a “Singular
Project Award” in 2016 that included a very important research grant. Also, we
want to acknowledge grants from the Junta de Andalucía (regional government),
the Spanish Government and the University of Granada Campus for International
Excellence BioTic.
I have been the director of
the Department of Atomic, Molecular and Nuclear Physics at the University of
Granada between 2009 and 2017. I am a member of the Spanish Real Sociedad de Física (RSEF), the Sociedad Española de Física Médica (SEFM).
